(Las Vegas) — Notre Dame rallied from a 17-point deficit to take a second-half led, but the Irish couldn’t hang on, falling to #21 Creighton, 80-76, in the 7th-place game of the Players Era Festival.
Tae Davis and Braeden Shrewsberry each scored 17 for the Irish, who fall to 4-4 after a fourth-straight loss.
Jamiya Neal led the way with 21 for Creighton. The Blue Jays dominated early, opening a 30-13 first-half lead on a Mason Miller three-pointer with 8:17 left in the first half.
The Irish chiseled away, with Matt Allocco scoring two of his 12 points to cut the gap to 32-27 late in the first half, but the Blue Jays managed to build the lead back to 40-30 at halftime.
Notre Dame came out strong in the second half, taking a 53-52 lead on a Shrewsberry three-pointer with 10:12 remaining. Neal then hit two threes and a layup to spark an 11-0 Creighton run and the Blue Jays never looked back.
The Irish return to the court Tuesday night at Georgia as part of the ACC/SEC challenge.
