Washington upsets #2 Crown Point in Saturday high school hoops
One night after being manhandled by sectional foe Marian, South Bend Washington bounced back in a big way.
Ryan Varga’s squad upset #2 Crown Point, 68-64, at the Great Western Forum, handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season. Steven Reynolds and DaKori Parker each scored 17 to lead the Panthers, who are now 12-3.
“We honestly just took them out of a lot of what they wanted to do,” said Varga after the game. “We took the lead and just never gave it back. I’m proud of the guys.”
It was a good night for the South Bend city teams. On the South Side, Riley knocked off Northridge, 65-58. The ‘Cats, who face Washington Thursday night, raise their mark to 13-3.
Elsewhere, Luke Bricker scored 20 as Warsaw won its 10th straight with a 65-40 pasting of Elkhart at North Side Gym. LaPorte is now 12-6 after Jordan Heckard’s squad topped Concord, 47-41, at the Slicer Gym.
