Marian to retire jerseys of Cannady, Jackson & Ivey before Holy War on February 14th
As if a boys basketball Holy War needs any extra juice to it.
Marian announced on Tuesday that they will retire the jerseys of its three most prolific boys basketball players on February 14th against arch rival Saint Joe.
Devin Cannady, Demetrius Jackson and Jaden Ivey will have their #3, #11 and #14 jerseys retired at halftime of the varsity game at Demetrius Jackson Court.
Varsity tipoff is expected around 7:30pm on the 14th. If you can’t be there, you can watch it all live on the Sports Michiana Game of the Week.
Jackson is Marian’s all time leading boys scorer with 1934 career points. He led the Knights to the state finals as a sophomore and graduated in 2013 before a a great career at Notre Dame that led him to become a 2nd round draft pick of the Boston Celtics.
Cannady followed and finished as the 3rd leading scorer in Marian boys history with 1,475 points. After graduating in 2015, he went on to play at Princeton where he lead the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament. He is currently playing professionally in Greece.
Ivey scored 958 points in three seasons at Marian before finishing his high school career at LaLumiere in LaPorte when his mom Niele (now Notre Dame women’s basketball coach) left the area to be an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA. Ivey was fabulous in two seasons at Purdue and was selected 5th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Pistons. He is currently out with a season ending injury.
The game will be broadcast on Sports Michiana’s YouTube & Facebook, on WSBT’s YouTube & Facebook & at IHSAA TV.
