(Mishawaka) — Bethel University has announced the hiring of David Osborn to lead the Bethel Men’s Basketball program.

Osborn most recently served as the Head Coach for Trinity Christian College, where he lead the Trolls to a 17-13 winning record in his second season. More impressively, he did it under the spectre of the school closing at the end of the school year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Osborn as the new Head Coach of our Men’s Basketball Team at Bethel, said Bethel athletic director Jason Lewkowicz. “David is a seasoned coach and servant leader who exemplifies what we strive to be every day at Bethel. Bethel Men’s Basketball is in great hands and we look forward to welcoming David, Amber, and their children to the Pilot family.”

The Fort Wayne native is well-acquainted with the Crossroads League, having previously served as an assistant coach for Greg Tonagel at Indiana Wesleyan for six seasons.

“We (Osborn’s family) inherit a program with a rich history and a supportive community,” says Osborn. “We were excited about Bethel’s desire to build and sustain athletic programs that are Christ-centered, culture-driven, and competitively excellent. It was important to me to find an institution where there was a shared vision and administrative alignment. We found that here at Bethel and are thankful to be returning to Indiana.”

Bethel went 26-9 last season, reaching the second round of the NAIA National Tournament, under the coaching of Steve Drabyn. He left to become the new head coach at Marian University.
