The Sports Michiana area will certainly have plenty of reasons  to be interested in this year’s WNBA All-Star game.

Three players from the Indiana Fever and two former Notre Dame stars have been named as starters for the game, which will be played at the United Center in Chicago on July 25.

Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell represent the Fever. While all three players have been all-stars before, this marks the first time all three have been voted as starters, with Boston previously earning the honor in 2023 and 2025, and Clark doing so in 2024 and 2025.

Boston is currently averaging a career-high 17.0 points per game, while also averaging 8.6 rebounds per game, the ninth-best in the WNBA this season.  Clark is also averaging a career-high points per game with 21.2, good for the fifth highest in the WNBA this season. Meanwhile, Clark’s 8.2 assists per game are the second best in the league. Mitchell’s All-Star starter selection comes during a season in which she is averaging a career-high 21.6 points per game, the third highest within the league this year.

As for Notre Dame’s representation, former Irish players Olivia Miles of Minnesota and Jessica Shepard of Dallas have made the starting lineup.

The 23-year-old Miles, who transferred to TCU for her final college season, was drafted No. 2 overall in April> The Lynx rookie is shooting almost 52% from the field and averaging 18.7 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds a game. Her phenomenal season has made her the Rookie of the Year frontrunner.

Shepard finished up her career with the Irish after transferring from Nebraska. Finally afforded a chance to start nightly in Dallas, Shepard has responded by posting career highs of 14.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

Next the league’s head coaches will select 12 reserves, who are expected to be announced next week. Coaches will vote for three guards, five frontcourt players and four players at either position, regardless of conference. Coaches can’t vote for their own players.
